  • As we move into the 21st  century, we want the  re-activated, 4th / 23rd  "Tomahawks" Stryker  Brigade Combat  Team to  know that we are equally   proud of them in their efforts in  Operation Iraqi  Freedom. We "Old  Dogs of War" humbly offer our assistance to them and their  families in  any way possible. God Speed to all of  you!! Thus: We dedicate This Site, to the brave men and Women of the 4th   Battalion / 23rd Infantry  Regiment "Tomahawks" and to our fallen   brethren who will  live within our hearts forever.

  • On 22 January 1966 the 4 / 23 became part of the 25th Infantry Division based in Hawaii. After approximately 84 days of intensive jungle training, the        4 / 23 boarded the USS Walker, and on 15 April 1966 set sail for Vung Tau, Republic of Vietnam. On 29 April, the unit moved out for Cu Chi to take up defensive positions and conduct combat operations. The Regiment participated in 12 major campaigns and received two U.S. Army Valorous Unit Awards, two awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palms as well as the Republic of Vietnam Civic Action Honor Medal, 1st Class. After nearly 4 years of gallant combat service in the Republic of South Vietnam, the Regiment stood down on 9 December 1970

  • The 4th Battalion 23rd Infantry Regiment was reactivated on 16 March 2004 at Fort Richardson Alaska. The  battalion was organized as a Stryker battalion and assigned to the 172nd  Infantry Brigade (Stryker) The battalion served a sixteen month tour of  duty in Iraq from August 2005-December 2006. The battalion was  inactivated on 15 December 2006. On 16 April 2007 the 4th Battalion,  23rd Infantry Regiment was reactivated as a Stryker infantry battalion  at Fort Lewis Washington and assigned to the 5th Brigade Combat Team  (Stryker), 2nd Infantry Division, where they are currently.
